The form of music that really shook me was actually Grunge rock. I know most would curse me for making a statement like this. I also believe that because of this i’ve caused severe aural damage to my neighbours, thanks my attempt to recreate Cornell’s high pitch screams.
Although I’m madly in love with grunge, I really hate Nirvana though, since I believe the true pioneers of grunge are Temple of the Dog, Alice in Chains and Soundgarden. And the band that carried their torch ahead, keeping the underlying thought (behind grunge) in mind, was Pearl Jam.
But one cannot ignore the fact that its Nirvana who made grunge world famous. But if one asks what can be the best line-up for a grunge band, I’d say:
Pearl Jam (lyrics), Alice in Chains (guitars), Cornell and Vedder (duet vocals, they both rocked in the single ‘Hunger Strike’), and Nirvana (Grohl on drums).
